故事講述兩派來到地球后，因為發生了一些“事件”，導致雙方外形大變（也解釋了兩系列風格不同的原因）。也由于這些“事件”，變形金剛要隱藏于人類社會之中。如何去平衡一切關系是擎天柱作為領袖將要面臨的考驗，本作品的標題也由此而來。
值得一提的是，本次兩派領袖 擎天柱 和 威震天 的配音者是久違的夢幻組合：來自初代動畫的 Peter Cullen 和 Frank Welker！他們在闊別電視版的變形金剛作品多年后，再次一起回來共演這雙經典的死對頭！
